Meet the Kids
These are just a few stories about the children at Mansa Fountain of Blessings! You will get to learn a little bit about their background and interests.
Meet Darren
Darren is a bright and determined 14-year-old with a gentle spirit and a heart for learning. Now in grade 7 at Don Bosco Primary School, he lights up when talking about his favorite subject, which is science. “During my free time, I enjoy praying for my family and reading,” he shares with a quiet confidence. Darren lives in the village of Kabwesha with his grandmother, two younger brothers, and one younger sister, where life is simple but often challenging.
At home, Darren works hard washing dishes, sweeping the yard, and walking long distances to fetch water. Even so, his heart remains full of joy, especially when he’s playing soccer or tag with friends. Saturdays are special for Darren, as he attends church in the afternoon with his family at the Seventh Day Adventist congregation, strengthening his faith.
Darren’s Favorite Bible Verse:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Being part of Mansa Fountain of Blessings has been life-changing for Darren. Here, he not only learns more about God’s Word but also receives extra math tutoring to help him succeed in school. Each day, he enjoys a hot, nourishing Zambian meal with meat, which is something not always available at home. With the love and support he’s receiving, Darren is holding tightly to faith, hope, and love as he dreams of a brighter future.

Elizabeth
Age: 10
Grade: 3
Elizabeth is a insightful and joyful 10-year-old with a heart full of dreams. Born in 2015 in Mansa, Zambia, she is now in grade 3 at Don Bosco Primary School, where her favorite subject is math. When asked why, she replies, “Because I’m going to be a nurse one day!” Her free time is filled with laughter and energy, whether she’s playing round bars or jumping rope with her friends.
She lives in a humble grass-roof home in Shape Village with her loving grandmother and sister. At home, Elizabeth takes pride in helping by washing the plates and sweeping the yard. On Sundays, you’ll find her and her sister at Don Bosco Catholic Church, happily joining Sunday School where they learn, play games, and grow in their faith.
Elizabeth's Favorite Bible Verse:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
For the past two years, she has been part of the Mansa Fountain of Blessings family, where she has received the support she needs, such as school fees, uniforms, shoes, food, clothing, and the gift of learning about Jesus. She loves Bible lessons three times a week, as well as crafts and skills days twice a month. Elizabeth’s smile shines even brighter now, knowing she is cared for, supported, and encouraged to reach for her dreams.
Meet Gift
Gift is a kind-hearted and clever 9-year-old with a big vision for his future! He hopes to become a male nurse so he can bring comfort and healing to others. Born in 2016 in Mansa, Zambia, he is now in grade 3 at Mansa West Community School and he excels in his favorite subject, which is English. Whether he’s chasing a soccer ball across the field or enjoying time with friends at the center, Gift’s smile and energy is glowing for the day.
He lives in Chitakwa Village with his mother and three older brothers. After losing his father at a young age, Gift has watched his mother work endlessly to keep their family going. She takes on whatever small jobs she can find, such as washing clothes, cleaning homes, or tidying outdoor spaces. She is doing all she can to make sure her children are cared for. Gift attends Christian Missions of Many Lands Christian Brethren Church alongside his mother, where his faith is strengthened week by week.
Gift’s favorite Bible verse is
Luke 2:6 “While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born.”
He enjoys rice and nshima, and treasures the warm friendships and learning opportunities he has found at Mansa Fountain of Blessings. With hope in his heart and determination in his spirit, Gift is working toward the bright future he dreams of.

Meet Bupe
Bupe
Age: 11
Grade: 4
Bupe is an 11-year-old girl with a cheerful smile and inspiring dreams. Born in 2014 in Mansa, Zambia, she’s now in grade 4 at Mansa Primary School, where her favorite subject is English. She lives in Spark Extension village with her mom, three sisters, and one brother. Her mother works tirelessly, farming the land and selling the harvest at the market to provide for her children. At home, Bupe helps by sweeping the yard, washing dishes, and soon she’ll begin learning how to cook. She loves reading, playing skip rope with her friends, and dreams of one day becoming a pilot so she can fly airplanes high above the clouds.
Bupe’s favorite Bible verse is:
John 13:35: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
This love is something she has felt deeply since joining Mansa Fountain of Blessings. Before coming here, many of her clothes were torn, and she didn’t have proper shoes to wear to school. Today, she proudly walks in her brand-new school shoes and wears clothes that make her feel valued and cared for. More than anything, Bupe treasures learning about Jesus and the Bible and being part of a community that feels like family. She is truly grateful for the hope and dignity she has found here.
